Our own, Dr. Tonya Little, Executive Director of STEM, is in publication this month! After years of working with Dr. Rhea Miles of East Carolina University, they now have an article published in The American Biology Teacher journal, August 2019 edition. Dr. Little says that Dr. Miles has had many roles over the years in their friendship. She has been a mentor, teacher, collaborator, and co-presenter at state and national conferences. The article focuses on their work of using flatworms, Planarians, to teach about drug addiction. The work with middle grades students was with the Science Education Against Drug Abuse Partnership with ECU, Temple University, and schools in northeastern NC.
